Start Small Dream Big Launch 2019 @ Gardens by the Bay

The Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project, which is organised by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) was launched last Friday (26 April) at Gardens by the Bay. The event was kicked off with Mr Desmond Lee, Minister of Social and Family Development, our founder Ms Julie Koh and 2 of our children representatives by pressing a large button that lighted up a coconut tree made with recycled materials.

This year, the theme “Learn from our Past, Dream of our Future” will focus on promoting an appreciation of the nation’s heritage through nature, cultural diversity and marine life. Our children will be involved in giving back to the community in their own ways by using their creativity and resources. The annual project encourages our children to build a kind and inclusive society, while gaining teaching values like care and compassion.

During the carnival on Friday, activities were organised in line with one of the projects “Appreciating our Heritage in Nature” learning trail. Our children enjoyed the activities, from creating their own terrariums to making Thank you cards using natural materials, they got to learn nature in a fun way. Look at how much they enjoyed the activities!

Special mention to our principal and teachers at Teban Gardens who had the opportunity to work with Preschool Market, Gardens by the Bay and ECDA to create an educator’s guide – Appreciating Our Heritage in Nature, that will be used by most preschools in Singapore. You can download our tool kit here.
